Stevie Lane began her experience in radio with an afternoon programme on a North London community station in 1978. Following a visit to the station by James Kaye (an engineer on Radio Caroline), she made the first of many tender visits to Radio Caroline.

After the sinking of the Mi Amigo, and working as DJ at night clubs in the West End of London to fund an extended trip to Cape Town, news arrived of a new ship on the Horizon. Stevie visited the Ross Revenge at the end of August ’83 and became heavily involved in land-based operations. She could be heard on Radio Caroline Overdrive for a few months during 1986, and reading the international news.
