20 songs from new and forthcoming albums here that you can expect to hear for the first time on Quasar over the next few weeks. It’s good to see The Wonderstuff back with a new album 30 Years Around The Sun, due to the fact that it’s 30 (yes, 30!!) years since their very first rehearsal. Featured track For The Brokenhearted holds no surprises or departures from the Stuffies’ familiar sound, but it’s no less enjoyable for that.
Alternative duo, Cat’s Eyes, have been around since 2011 and on 3rd June will be releasing their 2nd album called Treasure House, from which we are featuring the beautiful Chameleon Queen. Imagine an indie version of Whiter Shade Of Pale and you’ll be almost there. Rachel Zeffira’s musical contacts mean they are able to use a church organ as part of their creative process and they’ve even performed in the Vatican.
Listen out for Moon which comes from Beth Orton’s sixth studio album, due out on 27th May, called Kidsticks. The origins of the album apparently lie in the electronic loops Orton began working with when she moved to California two years ago.
And Solomon Grey (not a solo artist but a duo made up of London based Tom Kingston and Joe Wilson) have released their self-titled album, from which we feature See You There. They describe themselves as a sonic brand rather than a band, and have honed their craft by producing tv soundtracks as well as songs.
